Runco, Vidikron Manufacturing Moves To Planar Systems Oregon Headquarters
Planar Systems is transitioning the manufacturing of the Runco and Vidikron brands, which Planar Systems acquired in May 2007, to Planar’s existing global facilities, in Beaverton, Ore. This moves the two premiere projector brands from the Union City, Calif. facility that was formerly the headquarters of Runco international.
Approximately eight miles south of the Union City facility a brand new engineering design center will open. The design center will be home to, engineering, some marketing and Sam Runco and Rick Bergamaschi will have their offices on site. Bob Hana’s office will be Beaverton and Greg Caves retains his office in Boston.
Commented Scott Hix Vice President and General Manager of Planar Systems Home Theater Division: “We have a very robust infrastructure in Beaverton, and by moving all of our manufacturing up there we will have increased efficiencies across all three of Planar’s Home Theater Business Unit’s brands: Runco, Vidikron and Planar. The move will be a phased approach that will take approximately six weeks to implement. The dealer benefit should be felt as soon as the second quarter.
