RUNVI Smart Insoles Launch on Kickstarter, Offer Advanced Running Metrics
The wearable in-shoe sensor will provide a treasure trove of data and performance metrics for our running-crazed society. According to a statement from NWTNLabs, the insoles will combine “training science and leading-edge sensor and AI technology” to make it one of the most powerful fitness tracking and running apps on the market. But most importantly, according to NWTNLabs, the product doesn’t feature any bulky, visible clip-on gadgets.
"We want to bring leading wearable technology to the masses and we're excited to launch our RUNVI Kickstarter campaign," Christoph v. Brockhusen, founder and CEO of NWTN-Labs, said in the statement. "With our leading-edge sensor and AI technology, we're working on connected health and fitness products for everyday use, helping everyone achieve their health and fitness goals more efficiently."
RUNVI will be able to track the user’s running techniques and overall performance. It will then measure and analyze those details and data points to help the user optimize their running techniques to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.
The in-shoe gadget can also act like a personal fitness coach through a connected app. Once the user sets their goals, the app will create adaptive training plans. The more it’s used, the smarter it will get, and it will provide motivational and personalized voice and audio coaching to help the user obtain their goals. The app can also warn the user when they’re risking injury or fatigue, or if a technique they’re performing isn’t optimal.
The product itself looks like a basic shoe insert, weighs roughly 100 grams (3.5 ounces), and is powered by a tiny, detachable lithium ion battery that is USB rechargeable. Once the soles need to be replaced, the user can keep the CORE, which houses the battery and training data, and swap it into a new set of insoles. Battery life on the insole is roughy three weeks, according to NWTNLabs, and that’s if you’re using the insoles in an every day pair of shoes.
The RUNVI Kickstarter campaign page has the price of the product currently listed at €199. It’ll be available through the crowdfunding campaign page at a special early bird rate, starting at €99.
