Russound Announces Spotify Partnership; Ships CEDIA Intros
Russound has partnered with Spotify and will offer firmware updates so that its portfolio of streaming products will support the streaming service, the company announced Friday. Spotify Connect will be made available in the company’s XStream X5 distributed audio system component, the DMS-3.1 digital media streamer with AirPlay, and the MCA-88X streaming multi-zone controller digital amplifier. Major revisions to Russound’s apps will also support Spotify, said Colin Clark, product marketing manager.
Charlie Porritt, Russound CEO, said the addition of Spotify brings to three the number of top-tier services Russound is offering the U.S.; the others are Sirius XM and Pandora. He added that the company also offers Internet radio through two platforms. While additional services are on the roadmap for future introduction, Clark stressed that “we don’t want to overwhelm the customer. It’s market driven – it will be what dealers are asking for.”
Russound has also begun delivery on several models unveiled at CEDIA Expo. These include the refreshed line of Acclaim Edgeless Bezel in-ceiling/in-wall speakers, which bears innovations such as NeoDrive – a Neodymium magnet motor structure that enabled engineers to significantly reduce their mounting depth versus comparable models by nearly 20 percent. The speakers are available in 6-inch and 8-inch models along with all necessary installation accessories.
