Russound has introduced a proprietary new technology that it says brings the performance level of a wired connection to wireless streaming setups.
The company’s WIRE-FI-850 Ultra Premium Wi-Fi cable is being pegged by the company as “the industry’s first wired Wi-Fi solution,” said to provide flawless streaming even for bandwidth-intensive applications.
The engineering behind this purpose-designed Wi-Fi cable is said to overcome inconsistencies attributable to Wi-Fi dropouts or congestion, combining better-than-Wi-Fi performance with the reliability of a wired connection.
The WIRE-FI-850 Ultra Premium Wi-Fi cable is designed as accompaniment to Russound’s latest generation of professional-grade high-resolution streamers, the MBX-PRE and MBX-AMP, both controllable via the Russound app and both dedicated to high-resolution music performance and installation flexibility, bringing wired and wireless versatility to the customer.
Adding to the convenience of built-in, certified dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and mobile-friendly Bluetooth wireless connectivity, the MBX-PRE and the MBX-AMP are also voice-compatible with Alexa and with Google Home via built-in Chromecast, says the company. Both also provide streaming support for TIDAL, Deezer and any external audio routed through built-in Chromecast. These services join Spotify, SiriusXM, SiriusXM for Business, TuneIn, vTuner, UPnP, and Apple AirPlay as broad listening options in the Russound streaming lineup.
With the WIRE-FI-850 Ultra Premium Wi-Fi cable joining Russound’s MBX-PRE and MBX-AMP streamers, says Russound CEO Porritt, “we’re giving [installers] options. We’ve incorporated fully certified dual-band 802.11ac technology into our latest MBX-Series. Both the MBX-PRE and MBX-AMP will work perfectly in any home, with or without the wire.
