Sales of consumer electronics and appliances by U.S. retailers are expected to rise $739 million, a five percent increase, in September and October, according to a forecast released by IBM Wednesday.
"The forecast indicates that retailers should consider maintaining inventory levels, especially in the hot categories," Michael Haydock, IBM's leader for retail analytics, said as part of the announcement. "They should also make sure that stores are staffed with skilled personnel who can assist customers with complex purchases; and continue to invest in advertising leading up to the holidays."
