That’s just one way dealer members of the Nationwide Marketing Group, who gathered this week in New Orleans for the annual PrimeTime conference, are driving sales in a down economy. Other drivers include pushing more installation services and warranty sales, leveraging the digital TV transition to sell more panels, and adding as many accessories to each sale as possible.
The merchandising tip came from Mark Alexander, owner of Alexander & Ray’s TV & Appliance, a 60-year-old business in Olathe, Kans. Alexander reported that CE sales are up in volume, not dollars, from this time last year, while appliance sales are flat. That’s not bad, he agreed, considering the state of the economy.
