Samsung has announced an evolved version of The Serif 55-inch lifestyle TV, first launched in 2016. It now brings premium QLED picture technology and Samsung’s Ambient Mode feature to its smart TV functionality and high-end-furniture, minimalist form factor.
“The latest manifestation of this approach combines exceptional picture quality, innovative design features and smart functionalities to deliver a truly one-of-a-kind TV offering,” said Andrew Sivori, vice president, TV Product Marketing.

The Serif is the result of a collaboration between the award-winning design duo Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and Samsung. Defined by a single frame and drawing inspiration from the simple elegance of typography, says the company, The Serif forms an “l” shape when viewed from the side, and is also designed to be appreciated from any angle.
Via a Bluetooth connection, users can play music directly from their smartphones to their Serif. The addition of QLED technology brings deeper contrasts, darker blacks and 100 percent color volume to The Serif. Its Ambient Mode enables the TV to display useful information like the time, forecast and the day’s headlines; it can also transform into another platform for art by displaying professional photographs, customizable design patterns and family photos, setting a room’s mood, says Samsung. Ambient Mode also features a Bouroullec Palette, offering users 10 exclusive palettes – two patterns (Fabric & Leaf) in five different colors.
The Serif is available in white for $1,599.99 on Samsung.com and at select retailers.
