Samsung, Joe Torre Celebrate Charity Milestone
On Wednesday night Samsung, at its New York City showroom, celebrated the donation of $2.5 million in the past year through its Four Seasons of Hope charity sponsorship program. The program marked its sixth year of existence having reached the $10 million mark in cumulative donations.
As part of the celebration, a $107,000 check was presented to the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation, in recognition of 107 home runs being hit by the New York Yankees during their 2007 regular season games. Torre, the longtime Yankees manager who recently left the team and is now skipper of the Los Angeles Dodgers, accepted the check from Samsung senior vice president Steve Cook and executive vice president Tim Baxter.
The Samsung program, through tie-ins with other sports figures, works with major retailers to raise awareness of the various charities it supports.
