Samsung Electronics has released its vision for Human-Centered IoT. The vision includes $1.2 billion worth of investments over the next four years for U.S.-based IoT and R&D projects.
The vision will be led by the Samsung Strategy and Innovation Center, Global Innovation Center and Samsung Research America. At a Samsung-hosted forum in Washington, D.C, Samsung's Vice Chairman Dr. Oh-Hyun Kwon emphasized the importance of taking a human-centered approach with IoT to benefit society and tackle the challenges of bringing it to fruition.
“Today, IoT is changing individual lives – helping people to age in their own homes. But tomorrow, using IoT, we can give the same independence to millions of Americans. We can keep people out of hospitals and nursing homes. As our populations live longer, these benefits and cost savings for society cannot be ignored,” Kwon stated.
