Samsung has been all over the tech headlines over the past week or so thanks to the company’s major press event where they launched the Galaxy Note9 and a new Galaxy Watch, among other things. But it’s a new announcement on Monday morning that caught our attention and has us a bit more excited than anything the Korean-based firm released last week.
The company is expanding its SmartThings platform with a new mesh SmartThings WiFi System. The system comes equipped with AI-based mesh WiFi technology from Plume and a built-in SmartThings Hub, so the user gets the benefits of an intelligently optimized whole-home WiFi network along with the added value of smart home control via the SmartThings platform.
“As more people embrace a connected lifestyle, we’re focused on creating the best experiences so they can get more out of their smart home,” SK Kim, Senior Director of IoT Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics America said in a statement. “SmartThings Wifi is an intelligent solution that adapts to the many devices in the home, with mesh capability to eliminate coverage gaps plus a built-in SmartThings Hub to easily monitor and control hundreds of compatible smart products.”
