Samsung Electronics posted the company's second quarter earnings with disappointing results. The company's net profit fell 8 percent year-on-year. Although there was a slight quarter-on-quarter rise, Samsung expected better results from the launch of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones.
In reality, the product launches only made "marginal" impact on the bottom line. Samsung expects its mobile division will continue to face difficulty, but the company plans to lower the price of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to steer profits in the right direction.
Samsung will also launch new high-end phone models, which will be discussed in greater detail at the company's Unpacked event in New York City on August 13th.
