Samsung Swallows Its Pride, Recalls 'Exploding' Galaxy Note 7
Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 has come with a mixed bag of reception. Some were blown away by the phablet, quantifying it as the "best-performing smartphone display ever." Others were less than thrilled, turning around and calling it just a re-hash of the Galaxy 7 and humiliating it in side-by-side speed tests against the iPhone 6s.
All that aside, Samsung (or rather its customers) are catching some heat with their latest dilemma -- an 'exploding' battery. To clarify, only 35 phones have reported this issue, but Samsung admits that is simply 35 too many.
"There was a tiny problem in the manufacturing process, so it was very difficult to figure out,'' the president of Samsung's mobile business Koh Dong-jin told BBC reporters. "It will cost us so much it makes my heart ache. Nevertheless, the reason we made this decision is because what is most important is customer safety."
