Samsung To Invest $2 Billion in LCD
Samsung Electronics said this week that it will make a major investment in LCD production, in order to meet rising demand for 46- and 52-inch TVs. According to the Wall Street Journal, the investment will exceed $2 billion, and will be made in 2008.
The move will be done without the help of Sony Corp., with which Samsung has traditionally partnered on LCD production. Rival Sharp Corp. announced a similar, $3 billion investment in LCD earlier this year.
