Samsung has released software enhancements for its Family Hub Refrigerator that will take effect when owners accept the notification on their Wi-Fi connected Family Hub. The latest updates, according to a statement by John Herrington, senior vice president and GM of Home Appliances, “provide smart capabilities that add convenience, control and access to the kitchen.”
The software updates, says Samsung, enable the smart refrigerator to deliver additional levels of connected living. Family Hub can now allow users to select their favorite recipe and pre-heat their Samsung oven right from their Family Hub screen. They can also can now mirror and control Samsung TVs and Samsung smartphones and open mobile apps like YouTube, Prime Video and Hulu right from the screen. Users can also answer calls hands free via Bluetooth, allowing them to simultaneously talk with family and friends while cooking dinner. All of the refrigerator’s original smart features are still active, including letting the home’s occupants see inside the fridge from anywhere, manage family calendars, stream music and in general, stay connected with family and home from anywhere. The software updates are integrated into the 21.5-inch LCD touch screen on the front of the refrigerator.
Family Hub is available nationwide and on Samsung.com in a range of four- and three-door configurations and in addition to a new Tuscan Stainless Steel finish, it is also available in Black Stainless and Stainless Steel.
