Samsung’s Blu-ray Model Due on Shelves 6/25
Samsung Electronics announced that its BD-P1000 Blu-ray disc player will begin selling June 25, along with five software releases from Lionsgate which include the blockbuster classic “Terminator 2.” The releases follow by five days the availability of seven software titles from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
Jim Sanduski, senior vice president of marketing for the company’s Audio and Video Products Group, told Dealerscope that the players will reach roughly 2,000 storefronts simultaneously at a MAP of $999.
The model, when playing Blu-ray disc titles, is said to yield five times the playback resolution of the conventional DVD format through its native 1080p HDMI output. Supported audio formats includ Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus, DTS, MP3, and 192kHz LPCM.
