SanDisk Strikes Content Deal With NBC
The entertainment conglomerate NBC Universal this week reached an agreement with SanDisk to provide its content to the company’s “Fanfare” platform. The Hollywood Reporter newspaper reported that the deal would allow users to download programming from their PC with the use of SanDisk’s Sansa TakeTV player, and connect it to their TV.
SanDisk’s Fanfare platform, launched two months ago, also has content deals with CBS and Showtime.
The deal represents a coup for SanDisk, which is competing with Apple’s iTunes, Amazon’s Unbox and Netflix’s downloading service, as well as the Fox and NBC-owned Hulu, in the fledgling content download field. NBC Universal made headlines when it pulled its content from iTunes earlier this year.
