Savant Sues Crestron
Savant Systems LLC is suing Crestron Electronics, Inc., claiming Crestron has violated antitrust laws. Savant, which develops home automation solutions, filed a lawsuit against Crestron in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, alleging that the large supplier has violated antitrust laws including the Sherman and Clayton Acts, the Lanham Act, and state unfair competition laws.
In the lawsuit, Savant claims that Crestron is pressuring the dealers it supplies to not offer Savant products. Some of the Crestron's alleged tactics include entering exclusionary agreements, that force dealers to agree to not carry Savant products, and threatening financial repercussions to dealers who consider offering them. The complaint also alleges that Crestron has repeatedly published false statements about Savant and Savant products.
In a written statement, Robert Madonna, Savant's Chief Executive Officer, explained "We believe that Crestron's conduct has grown progressively worse. Savant is left with no option but to seek legal relief to protect Savant, its dealers as well as end users who should enjoy the full range of choices among competitive product offerings in the market."
