Monster will begin bundling a free IlluminEssence lighting module with its Central Controller as a way to better introduce consumers, as well as retailers and their installers, to the possibilities of wireless home control. Past efforts to market the IlluminEssence lighting modules met with only "reasonable" success, Lee said, because the modules and controller weren't marketed as an integrated solution.
"We couldn't quite get the two to meet; the customer didn't understand it" Lee said. This way, "the consumer and the lower-level installers can see how easy it is" to add scalable lighting and home controls, he added. The bundle will retail for about $399.95. In the past, the basic Monster Central Control System retailed for about $499.95. "Our goal is to light every home in America," Lee said.
Monster will also celebrate its 30th anniversary by launching a new line of "in-ear speakers" at the show. The Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers follow the same design and performance philosophy of the Monster Beats by Dr. Dre headphones released at last year's CES: to bring the quality of sound an artist hears while recording in a studio to the consumer, Lee said. The Turbine will retail for $149.95 and will feature 8mm drivers for deep bass and clarity, as well as a selection of sound-isolating ear tips that come in a variety of sizes.
