Sears Names New Electronics Head
A day after announcing layoffs, Sears Holding Co. on Tuesday announced the arrival of both a new head for its home electronics unit, and a new chief information officer.
The company, the parent company of the Sears and Kmart chains, named Karen A. Austin, formerly its CIO, as the new president of its home electronics unit. Austin had been the company's CIO since 2005; she has been replaced in that position by Timothy Kasbe, formerly CIO of Reliance Retail Ltd.
"As part of our new operating model and to grow those businesses in which we can differentiate ourselves from the competition, we're pleased to be able to leverage a leader with Karen's diverse experience," the company's interim CEO and president, Bruce Johnson, said as part of the announcement "She drove strong results in our IT organization with a keen focus on our customers and will bring that same discipline to her new role."
