Sensible Object, a leading London-based gaming studio best known for award-winning game Beasts of Balance, has raised a total of $3.2 million dollars in Series Seed 2 funding as it expands its product base and continues its impressive growth in the connected play category. Participants in the round include NCSOFT and March Capital, with early-stage investors London Venture Partners and the Amazon Alexa Fund following on. With the closing of this round, Sensible Object reports an investment total of more than $5M to date.
Today, Sensible Object is launching pre-orders on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk for When In Rome, the first title in its second game series Voice Originals. The series is a result of the company’s participation in the first Alexa Accelerator, powered by Techstars, where Sensible Object executives worked with the Amazon Alexa and Techstars teams, an experience that ultimately helped them create the unique fusion of board game and Alexa Skill. Voice interfaces are transforming smart home interactions, and integrating Alexa into daily products is a growing trend. Sensible Object is excited to produce the world’s first original board game that is designed to work with Alexa.
Sensible Object launched in 2016 with its flagship game Beasts of Balance, a physical-digital hybrid that challenges players to stack a tower with beautifully crafted “Beasts.” As the tower is built, the pieces come to life in the connected app where magical worlds are formed and creatures are cared for to keep the world in balance. Sensible Object completed a second successful Kickstarter campaign in summer 2017 to introduce the first expansions for Beasts of Balance, including a competitive gameplay mode called Battles and new play-piece characters.
