Shapiro: CES Asia Makes Sense for U.S. Dealers
Reflecting on the third annual CES Asia trade show held this week in Shanghai, China, Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which co-produces the show with Shanghai Intex Exhibition Co., noted that U.S. retailers could find merit in attending it, due to the fact that more than half of the exhibitors – 60 percent – do not show at CES Las Vegas.
“The advantage and opportunity for U.S. dealers to come is that they get to see products that they may not see in Las Vegas, and they might also be more focused,” he said in a briefing with attending press. “It’s a different atmosphere than they might get in Las Vegas, and might perhaps be inspired to go into a new area they have considered.
