Shapiro at Leaders in Technology Dinner: ‘Best CES Yet’
Day Two of the 2015 International CES was capped Wednesday evening with the annual Leaders in Technology Dinner, featuring a keynote interview presentation with Alan Murray, Fortune Magazine editor, posing questions to entrepreneur Nicholas Woodman, founder and CEO of GoPro.
As prelude to the keynote, Gary Shapiro, CEA president and CEO, revealed that, by all measures, this show had exceeded previous years' in terms of attendance, square footage occupied, and diversity of attendee makeup.
Shapiro said the show occupied 2.2 million square feet, up from 2.05 million in 2014, and hosted 3,600 companies including 375 startups (versus 220 startups in 2014). “In 2014, 160,000 attended over the show’s four days,” he said. “By the end of our second day today, we had exceeded that number already.” He said CES had attracted 40,000 attendees from 150 countries outside the U.S. “The show is about us moving forward,” he added.
