Sharp, MLB Play Ball Again in '09
Sharp Electronics emphasized its relationship with Major League Baseball in a big way at International CES in Las Vegas, hosting seven big league stars at its booth and touting some new initiatives for the coming season.
Sharp, whose Aquos has been the official HDTV of Major League Baseball since 2007, hosted autograph sessions at its booth with the Boston Red Sox's David Ortiz, the New York Yankees' Joba Chamberlain, the Oakland A's' Matt Holliday, the New York Mets' John Maine, the Milwaukee Brewers' Prince Fielder and other players. The players drew some of the longest lines of CES.
According to Judah Ziegler, Sharp's associate vice president who oversees the baseball relationship, these are just seven of the 12 ballplayers the company has endorsing them in different markets. Ziegler said the players were chosen to make retail appearances, as well as participate in other promotions.
