Sharper Image Looking to Liquidate Stores
Facing bankruptcy, the speciality retailer Sharper Image, is seeking a liquidator to help it conduct going-out-of-business sales at half of its locations, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
In a bankruptcy court filing, the company said this course of action was “the most feasible, economical and efficient means of achieving the disposition of the merchandise.” As a result, 96 of the chain’s 184 stores will be shuttered. The company also said in its filing that litigation related to air purifiers that it sold left it cash-poor and necessitated the move.
