Retail App Startup Signs Up Best Buy
Shopkick, a Silicon Valley startup that means to create "interactive worlds" with a new mobile app, has signed Best Buy as one of its first clients, the company announced Wednesday. Macy's has signed up as well.
The application, which was written about in the Wall Street Journal earlier in the week, would let customers know via their mobile phones that they are at or near the retail location, and let them know about rewards being offered. It is set to launch this summer.
“We created shopkick to reduce lost foot traffic and untargeted advertising in the physical retail world – and dramatically improve the consumer shopping experience,” shopkick co-founder and CEO Cyriac Roeding said as part of the announcement.
