Shutl Readies Same-Day Delivery Service in U.S.
Calling Shutl's chance for success "very high," Cohen said: "The challenge for them is going to be how to maintain that edge, the integrity of it and the branding of it. Any time you have a success in the U.S. there are 15 people right behind you."
Carol Spieckerman, retail consultant and president of newmarketbuilders in Bentonville, Ark., described Shutl as "a nimble player offering a viable third-party solution that seamlessly layers onto retailers' existing platforms. They have the potential to become an identifiable, branded solution of same-day delivery, and that alone can be a calling card for retailers," she said. "Shutl becomes more than just a platform that facilitates delivery-it encourages customer loyalty.
"Shutl is also compelling because they're talking the language of the retailer," Spieckerman continued. "They didn't go out and build up a bunch of infrastructure and then have to explain to retailers why they're going to have to pay for all that overhead. Instead, they're talking about algorithms, optimizing existing delivery services and putting financial decisions in the hands of retailers so they can decide whether to absorb delivery costs as a customer service play or average it out to a flat rate."
