Sirius Taps Clayton as CEO
By David Dritsas
Sirius Satellite Radio hired former RCA marketing guru Joseph P. Clayton to head up the company as President and CEO, succeeding Sirius' founder, David Margolese, who resigned in October. Clayton says he will continue along Sirius' goal of a national launch next year, but does plans to test different methods of selling the service, based on his years of experience in the consumer electronics Industry.
"This is not a turn around," said Clayton of the change in leadership. "This is more of a market growth, satellite-TV type of experience that I have had in the past. I will use some of the basic skill sets that I have learned over thirty years of business. We will be cost effective and we will continue to take cost out of the business equation and out of the product ion particular as we go forward, because that's the model that works in consumer electronics."
