Six More Companies Jump on Zenith DTV Bandwagon
Zenith added six more companies to its list of manufacturers who have licensed its digital television reception technology. Hewlett-Packard, Fujitsu General, Enseo, Jabil Circuit, and Orion subsidiaries World Electric and Korat Denki have all signed agreements to license Zenith’s 8-VSB (eighth-level Vestigal Side Band) digital transmission system. This system allows for compliance with the ATSC DTV standard adopted by the FCC. 8-VSB demodulators are required by FCC regulation on all televisions 25 inches and larger sold in the U.S. This requirement expands to all televisions, DVD recorders, VCRs, PC tuners and any other TV reception products sold in the U.S. on March 1, 2007.
