While there are four product expos at the 2012 International Home + Housewares Show (IHS), its Wired + Well Expo is of particular interest. It's about small electrics, home appliances, personal care/home health and home environmental products. These categories represent key segments and/or new profit centers for readers of Dealerscope, particularly so since we are finding that numerous vendors in these categories are looking to expand their distribution onto store shelves in CE and mass channels that directly go into the mainstream.
As a result of the recession, consumer behavior has changed. With less expendable income, concerns about rising costs, and future uncertainty, we've observed that people have turned inward and are eating or entertaining at home more.
Cooking appliance vendors have taken note of changing times by incorporating into the products faster cooking times, greater energy efficiency and improved ease of use.
