The percentage of mobile phone owners in the U.S. with smartphones is now over 50 percent, a number that rises to 54.6 percent among those purchasing phones in the last three months.
That's accounting to the latest market share numbers released Thursday by Nielsen.
The survey also found that among overall smartphone subscribers, 51 percent own Android devices and 34 percent have iPhones. Among the Android phones, 17 percent are made by Samsung, 14 percent by HTC and 11 percent by Motorola.
