Smartphone Usage Seen Quadrupling
Global ownership of smartphones is seen jumping to 2 billion by 2015, according to numbers released Tuesday by Parks Associates.
The firm, in a report called Smartphone: King of Convergence (Second Edition), stated that the nunber of users worldwide will quadruple from 500 million last year to 2 billion in 2015.
“Smartphones represent a new lifestyle,” Harry Wang, Director, Mobile Research, Parks Associates, said as part of the announcement. “Consumer desire for that lifestyle has accelerated the traditional mobile phone replacement cycle and will drive near-term hypergrowth of the smartphone market.”
