Snell Acoustics Set to Introduce LCR Speaker
CES 2008 is the forum for the debut of Snell Acoustics’ Illusion Series LCR speaker – a model made to match the company’s Model A7 reference tower loudspeaker in both cosmetic appearance and audio quality, says the company. Its three-way design is said to allow for more cone area, which translates into greater output and power-handling. The hand-finished speaker uses a D’Appolito array for its driver complement and the cabinet features a radiused front to help eliminate diffraction and higher-frequency reflections toward the listening zone. The mid/high-frequency sub-baffle uses Snell’s own multi-layered, elastometrically decoupled “sandwich” – a design that helps absorb reactive driver motions to lessen resonance. The Illusion LCR’s suggested retail price is $10,000 per speaker.
