Already the dominant wireless whole home audio brand on the market, Sonos took another step in the right direction as it looks to further integrate itself with the dealer community that long felt scorned by the company. Over the past year or so, Sonos has launched products and introduced programs aimed at strengthening the bridge between the company and the community of independent dealers who install their product in consumers’ homes, and the dealer-only trade-in program announced this week is just the latest example of that.
In a brief statement to Dealerscope, Sonos explained that the dealer-only program will allow Sonos customers to trade in select first-generation products for a discounted installation of a new Sonos product via a participating Sonos partner.
With the recent launch of some impressive new product like the Sonos Amp and Sonos Architectural line, alongside a few voice-enabled products like the Sonos One and Beam, the company is offering long-standing customers a strong incentive to upgrade to the latest Sonos products. And the dealer-only tie in means the community of installers who work with the product stand to benefit as well.
According to Sonos, the trade-in/trade-up program will work for customers who have a Connect:Amp or Play:5 gen 1. Customers can take those product to a participating dealer, trade them in, and receive a 30 percent discount on a new product. That 30 percent discount applies to each trade in.
So, customers will be able to enjoy the latest Sonos products, and dealers will have the opportunity to renew (or make new) relationships with their customer base. Another solid win-win from the Sonos camp.
