Though they’re known first and foremost as a manufacturer of some of the finest consumer-ready wireless audio solutions—and rightfully so—Sonos is a company that also has a knack for producing accessories that bring the in-home experience with their products to the next level. What they won’t do is create an accessory just for the sake of attempting to grab a few extra bucks of revenue. Rather, they listen to their consumers, and they devise some solution to specific needs that they have in the form of meaningful, useful speaker add-ons.
Sonos recently expanded their accessory portfolio to include three new products specifically designed for their One and Play:1 speakers. Here’s a quick rundown on each.
Sonos Shelf. Though fairly self explanatory, the Sonos Shelf does a bit more that just hold up a Sonos One or Play:1 speaker. Wall-mountable, the Shelf offers a design aesthetic that allows the speaker and shelf to blend into one another while also giving the user additional shelf space to liven up the space around the speaker. But from a functionality standpoint, where the Shelf shines is in its ability to keep the area around the speaker a little more organized. The shelf has a hidden wraparound solution that let’s you hide the excess power cable. The Shelf is available in the U.S. now for $59.99.
Sonos Stand Pair. It’s no secret that a user can create a relatively powerful wireless home theater experience with their Sonos speakers. As such, a 5.1 channel system would require the pair of rear speakers to either be mounted somewhere or placed on stands. There are other solutions on the market designed for the One and Play:1, but seeing an opportunity to capture some of that business, Sonos launched their own pair of speaker stands. Similar to the shelf, these stands blend into the speakers themselves with their matching color schemes. And they also are designed to completely hide the power cable along the pole and base of the stand. Sonos also explains that the materials the stands are built with will prevent teetering or wobbling. The Stand Pair is available now for $249.99.
Sonos Power Cables. Sometimes a consumer just needs a little extra cord in their life to make their speakers work exactly where they need them to. As such, having a standard length of cable just doesn’t cut it. That’s where Sonos stepped in to bring to market three different cable lengths for their One and Play:1 speakers. In a brief statement emailed to us, the company said the cords are currently only available for those two speakers. However, the product page has nearly every Sonos sound solution listed, which would seem to tell us that more compatible cables will be coming to market very soon. Prices on the Power Cables will range between $19.99 and $29.99 depending on length.
