Sony “Home” Launch Delayed
Sony’s plan for a PlayStation 3-based competitor to “Second Life” has hit another rough patch, with the Japanese electronics giant pushing back the release of its “Home” virtual world to the spring of next year, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The virtual world project, announced in March, was to allow PlayStation users to enter a “Second Life”-like community in which they could decorate their own character and dwelling. It was said to be part of a Sony initiative called “Game 3.0.”
The delay in “Home” was announced by Kazuo Hirai, who recently replaced Ken Kutaragi as Sony’s gaming chief.
