Sony Revamps TV Lines
Sony Wednesday introduced a new line of energy efficient TVs, as well as new models with Ethernet connectivity.
The Bravia VE5 series - 52-, 46- and 40-inch screen sizes -will include Sony's hot cathode fluorescent lamp, based on a technology that helps reduce power consumption by almost 40 percent, compared to Sony's other LCD HDTV models. The series, available this summer, features an Energy Saving Switch that cuts power consumption to almost zero watts when the set is not in use. The sets also feature motion and light sensors that adjust the backlighting depending on ambient room light.
In other TV news, the new XBR9 and Z-series models feature Ethernet connections for direct access to BRAVIA Internet content partners, including Amazon VOD, YouTube, Slacker and others. The XBR9 models, available this spring, also include Sony's new Motionflow 240Hz technology, designed to deliver crisp and detailed images with natural motion. Sony is launching a global commercial campaign to promote the new technology in the Bravia line.
