Sony Announces First Post-war Blu-ray Players
Sony on Tuesday announced the impending release of its first two Blu-ray Disc players to come out after the company won its format war against Toshiba’s HD DVD. The BDP-S350 and BDP-S550 will both contain an ethernet port and allow access to BonusView, BD-Live and other advanced, interactive features.
The new players were announced at Sony’s line show in Las Vegas.
While both slimmer and leaner than most previous Blu-ray Disc players, the new products also feature 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema output, and can play most DVDs with 1080p upscaling. The BD-S550, unlike its counterpart, includes dts-HD audio and Master Audio decoding, as well as 1 GB storage capacity.
