Sony Eyes New Movie-on-Demand Model
Sony is approaching companies throughout the movie industry proposing a home video model in which customers can watch movies at home between their theatrical and DVD release windows, BusinessWeek reported Monday.
One scenario, according to the magazine, would charge customers as much as $40 to watch a streaming movie prior to its DVD release. The company tested this model last year with the release of "Hancock," offering it through its Bravia interface.
No other studios have yet signed on to the plan.
