Sony Electronics Names New U.S. President
Sony Electronics announced Thursday that it it has named Phil Molyneux, a 23-year veteran of the company, its new president and chief operating officer. Stan Glasgow, who previously held that position, will move to a new role as senior advisor to Sony's entrepreneurship and innovation group.
Molyneux, who previously worked in Sony's European operations, will oversee Sony's entire electronics business in the U.S. and work out of San Diego.
"Phil's unique combination of technical knowledge and broad management experience will tremendously benefit Sony's electronics business in the U.S.," CEO Howard Stringer said in a statement. "He was educated as an electromechanical engineer, and has effectively and expertly managed an extraordinarily diverse electronics business for Sony in a key region of Europe.
