Sony, Foo Fighters team on hi-res audio
Popular rock band Foo Fighters has teamed with Sony to "work together to deliver convincing, premium quality High-Resolution Audio experiences to audiophiles worldwide," said the two parties in a press release that was light on specifics but heavy on fawning language. It's tough to say exactly what the nature of the partnership is, but we suspect Foo Fighters will be talking up hi-res audio going forward.
What we absolutely do know is that Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl is an audiophile who's always been really into analog -- so much so that he got his hands on the defunct Sound City Studio's legendary Neve console for his own studio, 606 -- and that the band is known for being sticklers about live sound quality.
Meanwhile, Sony has been expanding its line of Hi-Res products since 2013. "Among its collaborators, Sony considers Foo Fighters a particularly important partner with great potential for conveying the incredible allure and value of Hi-Res to audiences worldwide," said the release.
