Sony To Improve Overall Performance
On the “green” front, the executives said Sony is now sponsoring what will be more than 40 public events where consumers can drop off outdated electronics for free recycling. Sony will work to tie in local retailers with those events, Glasgow said. As part of Sony’s Take Back Recycling program, consumers can now drop off Sony-branded products for free at about 95 e-cycling centers in the U.S. So far, Sony has recycled about 1,000 tons of e-waste through the program. The company’s goal is to establish e-cycling sites within 20 miles of most consumers, Glasgow said.
In terms of supply-chain initiatives, Glasgow said Sony is working to increase on-time delivery and improve the overall efficiencies how retailers order and receive product from the company.
