Sony: No PS3 Cut This Year
Despite a similar move by rival Microsoft with its Xbox 360, Sony does not plan to cut the price of the PlayStation 3 prior to the holidays, the company's gaming chief told the Financial Times Monday.
Sony Computer Entertainment chief Kazuo Harai told the newspaper that the current prices are "the prices we’re going with this Christmas," rationalizing that the PS3 is a better value than less expensive consoles. The PS3 starts at $399 in the U.S.
Nintendo has already said it will not cut the price of the Wii ahead of the holidays, but does plan to ramp up production.
