Sony Opens Unit For In-Game Ads
In-game product placement and other advertising has become more popular in recent years, and now Sony is taking it to the next level- actually establishing a business unit specifically for that purpose.
Sony’s gaming segment announced Monday both that it has established an in-game advertising business unit, and that it has named 25-year industry veteran Darlene Kindler to head the operation. Kindler, who will report to senior vice president of Sales and Business Development Phil Rosenberg, will supervise advertising strategies across such programs as PlayStation Home, and others on the PlayStation Network.
Sony has also partnered with Nielsen Media Research to, as it says, “development measurement systems for game network advertising.”
