Attitudes: Sony President Misses Picture on Internet TV Strategy
When we asked your execs at the Internet TV launch in New York why Sony bypassed the independent channel, they said the product, at least during its introduction, had to be sold on a controlled sales floor that could deliver the proper demonstration and provide the bandwidth needed for optimum Internet TV performance. We understand, but we’re a bit confused. Aren’t those exactly the things specialty dealers have proven they’re capable of doing well year after year?
Maybe it’s time to see for yourself. Until then, here is how some dealers responded to the news on Dealerscope.com
From Dave Goldsmith at email@example.com:
“This is a sad new low for Sony. I have been selling and recommending their products for 26 years. Sony got independent dealers together last year and the year before and told us stories of how they’ve learned from their past mistakes in focusing on mass retail and the Internet, making unprofitable products and/or limiting product to independent and custom retailers. Here they prove again these are nothing but hollow promises.”
