Sony Should Take A Page From Its Own Playbook
Raise your hand if you remember the HD-DVD. Keep your hand up if you are still hoarding them somewhere like a collection of Beanie Babies.
If you were unfortunate enough to put all your money on red, only to see the roulette land on black (or rather Blu), you might have Sony to blame.
Letting bygones be bygones, the consensus is 'call it whatever, I just want better picture quality.' Sony helped spur this growth when the PS3 was announced as an affordable, dual functioning Blu-ray player. Looking even farther back, the PS2 remains king of the consoles because it was a reasonably priced DVD player. They also forced many big name manufacturers to lower the price of their players because Sony could afford to sell at a loss, in part to the profits it made on accessories and triple-A titles.
