Sony To Release PS3 Profile, With BD Live
Sony announced Thursday that it will release a software update for the PlayStation 3 console that support the format’s Profile 2.0, also known as BD Live. In addition, the software update will allow for greater portability between the PS3 and PlayStation Portable for music and photo playlists.
Profile 2.0 enables certain online interactive features included on some Blu-ray Disc features, and requires both 1GB of storage and an Internet connection. Only a handful of movies have been released so far with BD Live compatibility, but two more- the comedy “Walk Hard: the Dewey Cox Story” and the Arnold Schwarzeneggar action blowout “The Sixth Day”- are set to arrive April 8.
The software update is scheduled to be available late this month; it had originally been expected to arrive in the summer.
