Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) this week announced the PlayStation Protection Plan, which offers extended warranty coverage of the PlayStation 3 as well as the PlayStation Portable. The plans include one- and two-year extensions of the original one-year manufacturers' warranty.
PS3 warranty extensions are available for 1 year ($49.99) and 2-year ($59.99) extensions, while the PSP offers 1- and 2-year extensions at $29.99 and $39.99, respectively. PSP Accidental Damage coverage is also available for $39.99 and $49.99.
"The PlayStation® brand has long been synonymous with the highest quality in engineering and design, and it's because of the reliability of the PS3 and PSP systems that we can offer the PlayStation Protection Plan," Glenn Nash, vice president of operations for SCEA, said as part of the announcement.
