Spinnable Launches First Social Sharing App for 360-Degree Content
Spinnable, an “immersive technology company,” has launched a new cross-platform social sharing app intended for 360-degree content. The company said the Spinnable app “empowers anyone to create, consumer, and share their own content in full 360 degrees.”
The free app is hardware agnostic and compatible with all 360-degree capture and playback devices, according to Spinnable. No additional hardware is required to use the app. The app is capable of taking a panoramic photo from the phone’s native camera and—with its proprietary technology—can stitch it together “on-board and on-the-fly” into a spherical image.
And once in the app, content can be viewed on the mobile device by swiping around the image with your finger, or using the gyroscope in your phone to physically turn the image and you turn. Further, Spinnable offers cardboard mode so users can put their phone in a Google Cardboard or similar device and “step into the scene.”
