Sprint Files Suit to Block Merger
A week after the Department of Justice sued to block AT&T's purchase of T-Mobile, another development has put the tie-up in further danger: competitor Sprint has sued as well.
Sprint filed the suit Tuesday, in federal court in the District of Columbia, alleging that the deal violates Section 7 of the Clayton Act.
“Sprint opposes AT&T’s proposed takeover of T-Mobile,” Susan Z. Haller, vice president for Litigation for Sprint, said as part of the announcement. “With today’s legal action, we are continuing that advocacy on behalf of consumers and competition, and expect to contribute our expertise and resources in proving that the proposed transaction is illegal.”
