Sprint on Monday said that its new EVO 4G smartphone, the first 4G phone released in the United States, has broken its first-day sales records for Sprint-sold phones, following its launch on Friday.
The record, Sprint said, was previously held by the Samsung Instinct and the Palm Pre. Sprint added that first-day sales of the device were "three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined."
Sprint described the HTC-made phone as a "hit" with customers.
